Try this nourishing detox bone broth to warm up and clear your gut! It’s full of healthy vegetables and herbs that help too flush out toxins from your gut and kidneys.

 

Detox Broth: Makes 6 cups

Ingredients:

  • 10 cups filtered water (at least by Brita or better water filter, now’s your excuse to buy one!)
  • 1/2 cup dried shiitake mushrooms
  • 1/2 turnip, chopped
  • 1 medium sweet potato, chopped
  • 1-2 celery stalks, chopped
  • 2 parsnips, chopped
  • 2 leeks, rinsed well, chopped*
  • 2 cups cabbage or kale, rinsed well, chopped, packed
  • Chopped parsley
  • Fresh ginger
  • Dried sweet basil
  • Dried oregano
  • Spritz of lemon

Directions:

  1. Fill a large stockpot with the filtered water. Add chopped veggies and herbs and bring to a boil. Lower the heat and simmer for 2 hours.
  2. Strain and drink warm 2 to 3 cups a day as a nutritional and filling snack. Add a squeeze of lemon if you like.
  3. Store in a tightly sealed glass container in the fridge for 3 to 5 days
